In this post, discover how embracing unconditional self-kindness provides a solid foundation for inner peace, emotional balance, and alignment with your true essence. You'll find out about the profound gifts self-kindness brings. These gifts don’t come from striving or trying to fix something, but from allowing. Allowing ourselves to be met with compassion, and full approval. Also, enjoy trying the nurturing, Short Reflection on Self-Kindness exercise, at the end of the post, to tune into what guidance your heart has for you at this time to support your path. Kindness is an inherent quality of the heart and our True Identity and essence. It’s part of what we are. What Does Self-Kindness Looks Like? ✽ Self-kindness means approaching yourself with warmth, compassion, understanding, and non-judgement — especially during times of stress or challenge. Rather than judging or criticizing yourself, it invites a gentle and supportive inner dialogue, along with patience and empathy. ✽ Embracing unconditional self-kindness is about offering yourself the same care and support you would naturally extend to someone you care about. It’s about fully accepting yourself, just as you are right now, knowing that you — and everyone — are always doing your best in any given moment. ✽ Self-kindness also helps one with looking deeply within, to heal judgement of others and the outer world. It also helps guilt, blame, shame, fear, and all the various forms that judgement takes, to fall away. Holding onto any kind of judgement puts stress on your system and drains your personal energy. All judgement arises from the ego, not from your true essence. ✽ Embracing unconditional self-kindness doesn’t mean doing everything perfectly or trying to be the perfect person (human self). Self-kindness also reminds us of the importance to not judge ourselves when judgement does arise. Thoughts of judgement are simply thoughts. That’s it. What also naturally happens with this type of spiritually conscious and heart-centered approach to any thoughts, emotions, body sensations, and challenges, is that we are able to view all of these with a sense of detachment and from the perspective, intelligence, clarity, and wholeness, of the true Self. Recognizing that we are not these things, but the awareness beyond it all. This remembering and knowing, brings with it a deep sense of inner liberation and peace that affects us on all levels of our being (physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually). Also, living consciously in this way, encourages us to be in the present moment, meeting the full spectrum of our feelings, emotions, and sensations without judgement, rather than ignoring, bypassing, or suppressing any of them, which can lead to stress, misalignment, and disharmony. Having self-compassion and a gentle, non-judgemental attitude to what we experience are important for vibrational alignment with well-being. (As a side note: looking at our emotions, thoughts, feelings, and issues can be overwhelming or challenging at times, especially if there has been trauma or if one is experiencing psychological issues. Be sure to consult and get support if needed, from a licensed professional or therapist.) Genuine kindness recognizes the Oneness of all of life with Source. It helps to transcend the ego and the illusion of separation A Few of the Other Gifts of Embracing Unconditional Self-Kindness Include: ✽ Bringing our awareness into the present moment (where our point of power is and where all possibilities exist) ✽ Raising our vibration and aligning us to our inner being essence — the true Self ✽ Triggering the release of feel-good chemicals like oxytocin and dopamine, which boost happiness ✽ Reducing stress, calming the nervous system and whole body, helping the body to feel safe and more grounded ✽ Building emotional and mental self-regulation ✽ Rewiring the body for greater overall health and well-being ✽ Rippling out, it inspires kindness, compassion, and care — qualities of the heart — to those we live with, around us and to the world ✽ Helping to support a healthy relationship with ourselves, others, our work, etc. ✽ Helping us to move forward in the natural flow of life with greater confidence, ease, and clarity A few years ago, during a challenging time period in which I was experiencing chronic body symptoms, I came to the point where I whole-heartedly committed to embracing unconditional self-kindness. I had been practicing self-love and self-kindness for years before that, but I came to realize it wasn’t always unconditional, especially in challenging situations. It became evident afterwards, that choosing unconditional self-kindness for myself was a key ingredient in my realignment with wholeness and peace. As I embraced unconditional self-kindness in my daily life, a shifting and transformation of the symptoms occurred. I felt renewed, recharged, revitalized and a deep reconnection, trust, and understanding of the innate intelligence that flows through the body. Unconditional self-kindness was instrumental in my healing. Sometimes it takes a challenging experience or situation to get our full attention on what’s not serving our highest good, so that it may be shifted. However, it doesn’t have to be that way. Choosing to embrace and deeply align with unconditional self-kindness now is a beautiful gift to offer yourself. It will support you in making any shifts that your inner being essence — true Self is gently nudging you towards. Nurturing and strengthening your inner foundation now, will help you to meet, or perhaps avert in some instances, challenges with greater resilience and ease. You stay centered in who/what you truly are which is wholeness and peace. Unconditional self-kindness gently and lovingly leads us home — to the embodiment of our true essence and inherent magnificence. Exercise: A Short Reflection on Self-Kindness
Take a quiet moment when and where you won't be disturbed, to pause and connect with the intelligence of your heart and true Self, as you do the following exercise. ✽ Bring your inner attention to your heart center in the middle of your chest area. Imagine breathing in and out of your heart center as you take a few slow and gentle breaths — a little deeper than usual, but in a way that is completely easy for you. ✽ As you continue breathing in this manner, while keeping your gentle attention on your heart center, ask yourself the following questions. Feel free to write down your responses in a journal as doing so often provides greater insight and clarity. Write down whatever insights, impressions, words, feelings, etc. come to you without analyzing any of it. Simply allow the words to flow onto paper. ➡ Where in my life, have I been withholding self-kindness? ➡ How can I offer myself self-kindness and compassion in that situation(s)? ➡ What would embracing self-kindness feel like in my daily life? How would it shift the way I see and feel about myself…others…the world? ➡ What one thing can I do today to embrace self-kindness? ✽ As you move through the days to come, remember to follow the loving insights and wisdom, that you have now received from within. Feel free to share any of the responses or insights you receive, in the comment box below. In Oneness and Peace,

The following are 4 simple yet transformational practices that you can incorporate daily to deeply connect with Source consciousness and the true divine Self, nurture and bless your body holistically, and naturally boost your intuition at the same time. 1. Cultivate the Practice of Sustaining Renewing and Replenishing Emotions and Attitudes These include those such as appreciation, care, kindness, love, courage, and tolerance, which produce neurochemicals in the body that nourish and replenish your system. When you generate and maintain these healthy and uplifting emotions and attitudes which raise your vibration, you empower the natural flow of and connection with Source Intelligence within. Being in a state of greater inner harmony and coherence leads to boosted intuition. Coherence is when the heart, emotions, and mind are in sync and balanced, therefore creating an optimal state. As a brief side note, other benefits of generating and strengthening renewing emotions and attitudes are: boosted creativity and problem-solving skills, improved memory, longevity, and better job performance. Another benefit is greater resilience which is the ability to be prepared for, recover from, and move through challenges or stressful events with stability. On the other hand, draining and depleting emotions and attitudes like fear, anger, frustration, intolerance, judgement, and impatience, release stress hormones. These create resistance to the natural flow of well-being within and block intuition. So it's very helpful and healthy to cultivate the practice of strengthening elevated emotions and attitudes each day that nurture and bless your whole being. Doing so also aligns you to your true divine essence and builds your muscle for intuition. If you tune into the heart while doing this practice, it amplifies this technique. The heart is like a gateway to the true Self and Source Intelligence. And where you place your attention and focus is where you place your energy. By energizing the heart, you tune into and reinforce the qualities of the true Self like unconditional love, peace, well-being, abundance, and Oneness with Source and all of life. As you place your attention on the heart (which is electric and emits electrical signals) and generate and maintain elevated emotions and attitudes, this automatically sends out/broadcasts an invisible electromagnetic signal that carries this vibrational frequency and information from the heart to the rest of the body and into the field of energy around you and into your surroundings. Scientific research has revealed this. Interestingly, the heart produces the largest electromagnetic field made by the body. The heart's magnetic field is 100 times greater in strength than that of the brain. So tuning into the heart is very powerful. Love is what heals. It's what we are. We are always broadcasting a particular electromagnetic signal out into the world around us whether we are aware of it or not. And the qualities of the signal depend on the types of thoughts, feelings, emotions, beliefs, and attitudes we have. It is indeed helpful to be aware of what type of signal you want to be sending to your body, to those around you, and the whole world. From that place of awareness, you can reflect on this and move through each day mindfully of what you are projecting to yourself and to the world. You can bring in the heart connection into the practice by simply placing your inner awareness on the heart center area/chakra, at the center of your chest. Imagine or sense that your breath is flowing into and out of the heart center. Breathe a little slower and deeper than usual, but in a manner that is completely comfortable and easy for you. This relaxes the autonomic nervous system and promotes coherence, order and balance. Again, this type of internal state helps to boost intuition. The next step is to generate an elevated/renewing emotion or attitude. I recorded and uploaded a short video to YouTube that you can follow along to as I guide you in the practice of generating a renewing emotion while tuning into your radiant heart. It's such a simple and short, yet very effective and beneficial practice. Click on the button or on the video link below to watch it and try it out. 2. Engage in Activities that You Enjoy Doing fun activities that bring you joy are uplifting and they support emotional health too. By taking the time for fun, you invite joy in and help to stimulate chemical messengers in the body for joy. Joy is a quality of Source Intelligence and awakened consciousness, so when you activate joy, you connect with your true essence and open the door to intuitive guidance, assistance, and solutions. 3. Practice Body Awareness This involves bringing your attention into your body. The following is a brief explanation of one way to do this.
4. Pause and Become Aware of Your Surroundings and Senses Bringing your awareness to what's around you in the space you are in, also helps to bring you into the present moment and with staying rooted and grounded in the now. Inner stillness invites intuitive guidance in. Take moments of pause throughout the day to do this practice. Start with 5 minutes. These moments need not be long. When you first begin to practice this exercise, you may like to try it when you are alone and seated in a more quiet place where you can fully relax and won't be disturbed. The practice is outlined below.
There is a deep sense of connection/unity/Oneness and a recognition and understanding of the deeper meaning and purpose of everything. It really is beautiful. And in following the teachings and lessons of A Course in Miracles, students join with and therefore build a deep relationship with the Holy Spirit. This naturally leads to boosted and heightened intuition, a greater trust in the unknown, and alignment with Source consciousness. So these are just a few ways to connect with and build your intuition. I suggest starting with 1 or 2 of the above four practices, then incorporating the others into your daily routine. Try them for two to three weeks or a month and then notice or journal about how you feel and any helpful shifts that may have occurred in your life. When you get in the habit of using these practices each day, the more you will be in tune with your divine essence and intuition. As with all the practices I share, I use these valuable practices in my daily life and have experienced the deep insight, peace, assistance, support, well-being, and alignment to the divine Self and Source that they offer. And may you too, experience the benefits that they have to offer as well. Have fun with incorporating them into your life! Once you have tried them out, feel free to share your experience with any of the 4 practices I have outlined in this post in the comments section below. I always love to read your feedback! PS. The following is an affiliate link in which I receive a small commission for donations made on the Source It's Within You website to rent or purchase the film on demand using this unique link. The film provides groundbreaking scientific discoveries of the profound impact that meditation has on the mind and body. It celebrates the work of author and lecturer Dr. Joe Dispenza, and his research with dedicated scientists, showing evidence of the powerful influence that the mind has on the body. Click here to go to the website. Living in the state of creation is living in balance (relaxation mode). Whereas living in the state of survival is living in stress (stress mode). What is stress? It’s when the body is knocked out of homeostasis/balance. Scientific evidence reveals that most people spend 70% of the time living in survival. It’s how we are wired. Many people may not realize they are living in survival as it has become their new normal/familiar state of living. If a person is living continuously in stress mode, then the body does not have the needed resources for growth, regeneration and repair. For the most part, 75 to 90 percent of every person that walks into a health care facility in the western world walks in because of psychological or emotional stress. That's pretty much four out of five people. What's really causing their health condition is that they're emotionally stressed and emotionally out of balance. Dr. Joe Dispenza explains that the emotions that are connected to the stress hormones include: anger, hatred, violence, frustration, competition, control, judgement, envy, jealousy, insecurity, fear, anxiety, worry, angst, hopelessness, powerlessness, guilt, shame, and unworthiness. The hormones/chemicals of stress can become addictive and so a person living in chronic stress will use the conditions and problems in their life to reaffirm their addiction or conditioning to that emotion. So basically, they can be addicted to their own thoughts. This allows the inner critic/ego/unconsciousness to run the show and perpetuate drama and stress. The hormones of stress also cause incoherence in the heart and brain. Scientific evidence also reveals that we hold the power within us to change our brain/body chemistries and rewire our neurological circuitry of who we think we are. This occurs by thinking differently in helpful and healthy new ways, which then shifts our beliefs, attitudes and behaviors. Doing this with consistency and repetition is key to creating/building new neural networks. I feel having an understanding of the basics of the science of stress is very helpful and important. This is so individuals have the knowledge of how their mindscape can affect their physiology, and the processes that take place when the body’s stress response is triggered. And also what occurs when the relaxation response is triggered. Having an understanding of these processes helps to better recognize and break free from patterns that lead to stress. And so it helps one to empower their health and well-being. Having helpful tools is also key to learn how to regulate the nervous system and support the body. I’ll share some effective tools in this blog post, on how to connect with the inherent power that is within us all (Love/Spirit/Presence/true Self) to break the habit of living in survival/stress mode and into living in creation/relaxation mode. So let's first look at what occurs when the body’s stress response is triggered. The autonomic nervous system is involved mostly with actions that are automatic like breathing and digestion. Its focus is on the body's inner organs and has 2 parts which are the sympathetic nervous system and the parasympathetic nervous system. The Sympathetic Nervous System and the Stress Response The sympathetic nervous system activates the stress response, also known as the fight, flight, freeze, fawn response. This response is triggered by stressful events and it gives us a boost of energy and the focus needed to escape danger or physical threat. The body activates the stress response to re-establish homeostasis. The physiological changes that occur in the body when the stress response is triggered include:
This survival system helped our primitive ancestors thousands of years ago, to deal with threats like being chased by a wild animal, harsh environmental conditions, and starvation. As human life has evolved over time, some of the new perceived threats in today’s world that are not easily handled by fighting or fleeing, might include stressors such as: worrying about health, finances, or work deadlines, or relationship challenges. A stressor is anything that disturbs the body's normal chemical balance. The stress response can be triggered just by thinking of these. So, ruminating about past upsets and/or worrying about the future are also enough to trigger the stress response. We are designed to experience short-term stress responses when needed and then return back to homeostasis. However, we are not designed to live in constant long-term stress which can lead to dis-ease. When the sympathetic nervous system is constantly activated by chronic stress and anxiety, psychological, physiological, and behavioral effects can result in the body. We'll examine that in a moment, but first let's look at the parasympathetic nervous system, which is the other part of the autonomic nervous system. The Parasympathetic Nervous System and the Relaxation Response The parasympathetic nervous system triggers the relaxation response and relaxation mode, which is also called rest and digest mode. Rest and digest mode is the opposite of the fight, flight, freeze, fawn response. It helps to replenish our systems and conserve energy especially after being in stress mode. When the rest and digest mode is triggered, the following occur in the body:
When we are in rest and digest mode, the body can focus its energy on processes like immunity, reproduction, and digestion. It helps to normalize and calm the system after being in a state of stress. Effects of Living in Survival/Stress Mode Living in stress mode for an extended period of time can cause psychological, physiological and behavioral effects. Included below are just a few of these such as:
Again, the great news is that we always have the power within to change the brain/body in helpful ways simply by thinking in new ways as neuroscience has proven. New helpful ways of thinking lead to healthy new attitudes, beliefs and behaviors. This is possible no matter one’s age. Bridging Science and SpiritualityThe body, as well as everything and everyone that seems to be outside of the self, is a reflection of one’s mindscape. The body can hold onto the past until there is a willingness to look inwards and make healthy and helpful shifts. Self-Inquiry What is your mindscape like? What theme(s) have been present in previous years that have been unpleasant or unhelpful that are still affecting you today? What beliefs do you continue to hold onto about yourself/others/the world that are not helpful and based in fear/illusion/separation consciousness? Reflecting on these questions with curiosity, non-judgement and non-attachment to the beliefs can provide valuable insight. And from the perspective and remembrance of who you/we/all truly are as wholeness. In other words, identifying as the true Self, Consciousness, and the formless deeper essence of our being, which is unchanging and eternally perfect, whole, and complete. Rather than identifying as the personal/separate self and body (the form). It's from this remembrance and acceptance of our wholeness and the Love that we are, that deep transformation occurs. Being in the practice of living with conscious awareness of the thoughts running in the mind, our feelings, emotions, attitudes, and behavioral patterns with loving kindness, self-compassion, non-attachment and without judging ourselves is key. This also automatically quiets and withdraws power from the inner critic/ego (which is the false belief in separation) and helps to break free from unhelpful subconscious patterns and addiction to the hormones of stress. Joining with/living as the true Self/Awareness/Presence/Consciousness brings insight and realization. Also, real solutions and guidance, including any helpful shifts we can make to best support our well-being and health, arise from this space of inner Stillness and Awareness and not from the frantic, chaotic, and scattered energy of the inner critic. Living with mindfulness in this way also triggers the relaxation response. ~The present moment is where all possibilities exist~ Instead of conditioning the body to a state of stress and anxiety with habits of chronic worrying, focusing on what is unwanted and worst-case scenarios, (which is not being loving and kind to the self) building helpful and healthy emotional/mental/behavioral patterns and habits, help condition the heart/brain/body to a state of calm, coherence and order. Coherence is when the heart, emotions, and mind are in vibrational harmony and alignment. It's a state in which the heart and brain rhythms, breathing, hormonal response and body systems are in sync with each other. This then helps to support the body in carrying out its vital functions.
