The benefits of walking in nature are numerous. Some of these benefits include the following:
-helps improve cardiovascular health
-assists with reducing stress and anxiety
-improves well-being and uplifting one’s mood and can be especially helpful when experiencing a traumatic life circumstance like a health issue, or the transition of a loved one or a relationship issue.
-can help decrease high blood pressure
-helps bring stillness to the mind
-grounding
-can assist with opening and developing one’s senses by observing the sights and sounds of nature
-feeling more connected to Spirit which also boosts creativity
With such benefits to the body and mind, walking in nature can also assist with speeding up the healing/recovery process. Being outdoors in nature brings clarity of mind. Especially when we let go of everything that may be on our minds for a while, and become aware of and observe our surroundings in nature. From the wind’s gentle breeze, to the rustling sound of leaves and the warm sun on your back. The brilliant colorful flowers, the sweet song of a bird overhead, the soft green grass and strong-rooted trees, all with their vibrancy and aliveness is something to appreciate. Taking a nature walk helps us to see our lives and experiences from a higher perspective. It helps us connect more deeply with our inner peace, our Spirit, that reminds us that “All is Well.”
I love walking in nature on a daily basis. No matter how I am feeling before taking my walk, I always feel more uplifted and renewed during and after my nature walk. I also have found that much intuitive guidance comes during these walks. When the mind becomes still, the inspiration (in-spirit) flows. And adding Reiki to a walk in nature boosts the intuitive guidance even more, since the Reiki energy helps us to connect more deeply with the wisdom of our Spirit.

Incorporating Reiki into a Nature Walk

I love to connect with Reiki on my walks. I have noticed that by doing so, I feel even more grounded, relaxed, peaceful, more in tune with Spirit, and it boosts creative ideas. Reiki nature walks are very balancing, grounding, healing and empowering.
Before I set off on my walk in nature, I call on Reiki. Though some parts may vary at different times depending on what I’m feeling Reiki guiding me to use (symbols etc.) at the moment, the following are typically the steps I follow.
Steps that I Follow as Suggested Ideas for Taking a Walk in Nature with Reiki
I do love my Reiki nature walks. They enhance my time in nature and deepen the relaxing, healing, harmonizing, and balancing benefits that nature has to offer.
You may wish to incorporate these ideas and bring the loving power of Reiki into your nature walks. When invoking Reiki and/or any symbols, do what works for you. You can visualize the symbols, state their names, draw them over the body, or you may have other ways too. Follow your inner guidance and let Reiki lead the way on your walks! And have fun!
- I place my hands in gassho (prayer position) and ask that my personality/ego be set aside so that I am a clear and open channel for the Reiki energy.
- I ask Reiki to be with me and flow through me during my walk and to guide, heal, and ground me. And if I have any stress or worries, I ask that it all be lifted away during my walk.
- I place the Holy Fire® master symbol in the palms of my hands, repeating its name silently three times. I then do the same with the Usui mental/emotional symbol, and often add the Karuna symbols Rama, Shanti and Kriya. I then place all of these symbols in my chakras and all around me. I find that the Holy Fire® is very empowering, nurturing, grounding, soothing energy that quickens the harmonizing/balancing/healing process and strengthens the other symbols. It helps to connect deeply to our true Self.
- Next I silently say the name of the mental/emotional symbol and visualize it on the bottoms of each foot and visualize a large image of this symbol in front of me. The meaning of this symbol in Japanese is to create a new habit. So it is wonderful with helping to heal old patterns, habits, and thoughts that are not serving our highest good and to create healthy new habits. It is helpful with balancing the nervous system and both sides of the brain and body (yin/yang). It helps with bringing balance to all areas of our lives. This symbol assists with releasing any kind of distress such as worry, fear, grief, and anger.
- Using this symbol on nature walks can help bring greater levels of harmonizing and balancing to the whole body/mind/spirit and brings with it more calming and relaxing energies. I find it to be grounding as well.
- I visualize a large image of the Karuna symbol Shanti (inner peace, being centered in the now moment) in front of me, visualize the Karuna symbol Kriya in the legs (grounding and manifesting), and the Karuna symbol Rama at the bottoms of each foot (grounding, clarity of mind, harmonizing, manifesting).
- Then I say to myself something like, “I surrender to the loving power of Reiki to guide me and assist me,” as I begin my walk.
- I let Reiki guide me where to go on my walks. I will feel which way to turn and which path to take by feeling a pull in a certain direction.
- Silently in my mind, I often greet the trees, plants, flowers, etc., and thank them for their beauty, love, and healing energies.
- As I observe and tune into the wonders of nature, I will often times invoke the mental/emotional and Holy Fire® master symbols again by thinking their names and/or visualizing them. Sometimes I repeat their names in a mantra like fashion. Or sometimes I simply think “Reiki.” This is also helpful to do if I notice myself getting distracted with thoughts. Bringing Reiki to mind, returns it to stillness and back to the present moment so that I return my attention to nature. I then give thanks to Reiki and the symbols for their assistance as I continue along my way.
- At times during my walk, I place my inner attention on my feet, and visualize the mental/emotional symbol on the bottoms of my feet as I feel the bottoms of them grounding firmly to the earth.
- I bring attention to my breath at times and breathe in and give thanks to the fresh air and my breath. I gently stretch my muscles and if I notice any achiness anywhere, I visualize the emotional/mental and Holy Fire® master symbol in that location. This brings soothing comfort, release and relaxation to that area.
- During my Reiki nature walks, I take a moment to visualize the Holy Fire® surrounding and filling my whole body and this feels so wonderful!
- As I tune into nature, I give thanks to the beauty that I see around me, and the songs of nature that I hear.
- At the end of my walks, I feel refreshed and I give thanks to Reiki and to nature.
