Breaking the Habit of Chronic Stress

Breaking the Habit of Chronic Stress by Maya Bringas
Living in the state of creation is living in balance (relaxation mode). Whereas living in the state of survival is living in stress (stress mode). What is stress? It’s when the body is knocked out of homeostasis/balance. Scientific evidence reveals that most people spend 70% of the time living in survival. It’s how we are wired.

Many people may not realize they are living in survival as it has become their new normal/familiar state of living. If a person is living continuously in stress mode, then the body does not have the needed resources for growth, regeneration and repair.
For the most part, 75 to 90 percent of every person that walks into a health care facility in the western world walks in because of psychological or emotional stress. That's pretty much four out of five people. What's really causing their health condition is that they're emotionally stressed and emotionally out of balance.
~Dr. Joe Dispenza, researcher, lecturer, with post-graduate training in neuroscience and neuroplasticity, cell biology, memory formation, brain function and chemistry, epigenetics, mind-body medicine, and brain/heart coherence. He is the author of the books, Evolve Your Brain, Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself, You are the Placebo, and Becoming Supernatural.
Dr. Joe Dispenza explains that the emotions that are connected to the stress hormones include:  anger, hatred, violence, frustration, competition, control, judgement, envy, jealousy, insecurity, fear, anxiety, worry, angst, hopelessness, powerlessness, guilt, shame, and unworthiness. The hormones/chemicals of stress can become addictive and so a person living in chronic stress will use the conditions and problems in their life to reaffirm their addiction or conditioning to that emotion. So basically, they can be addicted to their own thoughts. This allows the inner critic/ego/unconsciousness to run the show and perpetuate drama and stress. The hormones of stress also cause incoherence in the heart and brain.

Scientific evidence also reveals that we hold the power within us to change our brain/body chemistries and rewire our neurological circuitry of who we think we are. This occurs by thinking differently in helpful and healthy new ways, which then shifts our beliefs, attitudes and behaviors. Doing this with consistency and repetition is key to creating/building new neural networks.

I feel having an understanding of the basics of the science of stress is very helpful and important. This is so individuals have the knowledge of how their mindscape can affect their physiology, and the processes that take place when the body’s stress response is triggered. And also what occurs when the relaxation response is triggered. Having an understanding of these processes helps to better recognize and break free from patterns that lead to stress. And so it helps one to empower their health and well-being.

Having helpful tools is also key to learn how to regulate the nervous system and support the body. I’ll share some effective tools in this blog post, on how to connect with the inherent power that is within us all (Love/Spirit/Presence/true Self) to break the habit of living in survival/stress mode and into living in creation/relaxation mode.

So let's first look at what occurs when the body’s stress response is triggered. The autonomic nervous system is involved mostly with actions that are automatic like breathing and digestion. Its focus is on the body's inner organs and has 2 parts which are the sympathetic nervous system and the parasympathetic nervous system.

The Sympathetic Nervous System and the Stress Response
The sympathetic nervous system activates the stress response, also known as the fight, flight, freeze, fawn response. This response is triggered by stressful events and it gives us a boost of energy and the focus needed to escape danger or physical threat. The body activates the stress response to re-establish homeostasis.

The physiological changes that occur in the body when the stress response is triggered include:
  • a dilation of the pupils
  • an increase in heart rate and breathing rate
  • increased levels of adrenalin and noradrenalin
  • muscles that are tensed
  • an increase in blood glucose levels
This survival system helped our primitive ancestors thousands of years ago, to deal with threats like being chased by a wild animal, harsh environmental conditions, and starvation. As human life has evolved over time, some of the new perceived threats in today’s world that are not easily handled by fighting or fleeing, might include stressors such as:  worrying about health, finances, or work deadlines, or relationship challenges. A stressor is anything that disturbs the body's normal chemical balance.

The stress response can be triggered just by thinking of these. So, ruminating about past upsets and/or worrying about the future are also enough to trigger the stress response.

We are designed to experience short-term stress responses when needed and then return back to homeostasis. However, we are not designed to live in constant long-term stress which can lead to dis-ease.

When the sympathetic nervous system is constantly activated by chronic stress and anxiety, psychological, physiological, and behavioral effects can result in the body. We'll examine that in a moment, but first let's look at the parasympathetic nervous system, which is the other part of the autonomic nervous system.

The Parasympathetic Nervous System and the Relaxation Response
The parasympathetic nervous system triggers the relaxation response and relaxation mode, which is also called rest and digest mode.

Rest and digest mode is the opposite of the fight, flight, freeze, fawn response. It helps to replenish our systems and conserve energy especially after being in stress mode.

When the rest and digest mode is triggered, the following occur in the body:
  • an increase in digestion
  • urinary secretion and the production of mucus and saliva increases
  • sexual arousal is stimulated
  • pupils constrict, heart rate and breathing rate slows, and muscles relax (which reflect a reversal of the processes that occur when the stress response is triggered)
When we are in rest and digest mode, the body can focus its energy on processes like immunity, reproduction, and digestion. It helps to normalize and calm the system after being in a state of stress.
Effects of Living in Survival/Stress Mode
Living in stress mode for an extended period of time can cause psychological, physiological and behavioral effects. Included below are just a few of these such as:
  • depression, anxiety disorders, and poor mental health
  • sleep disturbances
  • mood swings
  • anger or irritability
  • low self-esteem
  • challenges relaxing
  • brain fog
  • chronic worrying
  • lowered immunity
  • low energy
  • fatigue
  • rapid heartbeat or chest pains
  • digestive issues
  • muscle pain/tension
  • cardiovascular disease
  • low sex drive or sexual dysfunction
  • menstrual problems
  • skin/hair issues
  • type II diabetes
  • chronic headaches
  • obesity
  • over or undereating
  • decreased motivation
  • social withdrawal
  • substance abuse

Again, the great news is that we always have the power within to change the brain/body in helpful ways simply by thinking in new ways as neuroscience has proven. New helpful ways of thinking lead to healthy new attitudes, beliefs and behaviors. This is possible no matter one’s age.
Breaking the Habit of Chronic Stress by Maya Bringas

Bridging Science and Spirituality

The body, as well as everything and everyone that seems to be outside of the self, is a reflection of one’s mindscape. The body can hold onto the past until there is a willingness to look inwards and make healthy and helpful shifts.

Self-Inquiry
What is your mindscape like? What theme(s) have been present in previous years that have been unpleasant or unhelpful that are still affecting you today? What beliefs do you continue to hold onto about yourself/others/the world that are not helpful and based in fear/illusion/separation consciousness?

Reflecting on these questions with curiosity, non-judgement and non-attachment to the beliefs can provide valuable insight. And from the perspective and remembrance of who you/we/all truly are as wholeness. In other words, identifying as the true Self, Consciousness, and the formless deeper essence of our being, which is unchanging and eternally perfect, whole, and complete. Rather than identifying as the personal/separate self and body (the form).

It's from this remembrance and acceptance of our wholeness and the Love that we are, that deep transformation occurs.

Being in the practice of living with conscious awareness of the thoughts running in the mind, our feelings, emotions, attitudes, and behavioral patterns with loving kindness, self-compassion, non-attachment and without judging ourselves is key. This also automatically quiets and withdraws power from the inner critic/ego (which is the false belief in separation) and helps to break free from unhelpful subconscious patterns and addiction to the hormones of stress.

Joining with/living as the true Self/Awareness/Presence/Consciousness brings insight and realization. Also, real solutions and guidance, including any
helpful shifts we can make to best support our well-being and health, arise from this space of inner Stillness and Awareness and not from the frantic, chaotic, and scattered energy of the inner critic. Living with mindfulness in this way also triggers the relaxation response.
~The present moment is where all possibilities exist~

Instead of conditioning the body to a state of stress and anxiety with habits of chronic worrying, focusing on what is unwanted and worst-case scenarios, (which is not being loving and kind to the self) building helpful and healthy emotional/mental/behavioral patterns and habits, help condition the heart/brain/body to a state of calm, coherence and order. Coherence is when the heart, emotions, and mind are in vibrational harmony and alignment. It's a state in which the heart and brain rhythms, breathing, hormonal response and body systems are in sync with each other. This then helps to support the body in carrying out its vital functions.

Helpful Tools to Support the Body and Shift from Living in
Survival (Stress Mode) and Into Creation (Relaxation Mode)

The body is truly amazing and resilient and is always working to restore/maintain homeostasis, balance, and inner harmony. Some ways we support the body in doing this are by:

Cultivating practices such as:

--becoming aware and being willing to let go of old unhelpful conditioning (beliefs/patterns/behaviors/habits) like judgement of self/others, lack, blame, shame, guilt, fear, unworthiness, limitation etc., with non-judgement and self-compassion. Perceiving the deeper, formless and eternal essence that exists within all life which is also perfect order and harmony.

--giving space with self-kindness, non-judgement, and gentle curiosity for all thoughts/feelings/emotions/bodily sensations to be present, rather than suppressing/ignoring any of them which can lead to dis-ease. Allowing ourselves to feel our emotions and sensations without labelling any of them (as good or bad, or right or wrong) is an act of self-kindness. It is also very liberating.

The body communicates to us via our emotions and sensations and they likely get louder if their messages are ignored or suppressed, until we lovingly look and listen within to understand what they have to reveal.

Being in the practice of allowing ourselves to look, listen, sense, and feel deeply within ourselves, is an act of self-love and supports our need to feel we are being heard and seen. It’s us supporting ourselves and this is very nurturing and healing. (If this is challenging for you to do, due to trauma or any other reason, do reach out to a professional if needed, who can assist and support you in this process).

--focusing on what we do want to feel and experience (rather than on that which we do not want) and best-case scenarios. Whatever is focused on gives instructions to the body, which then builds and strengthens neural connections for those things.

--cultivating presence/mindfulness in daily life

Doing activities that trigger the body's relaxation response and bring it into a state of rejuvenation and relaxation. Bringing awareness to the body and sensing and feeling into the body, quiets the thinking analytical mind, and helps the brain to become more organized and coherent. It brings the body into the present moment. Engaging often in activities like meditation or body scanning is very helpful for this purpose.

Here are some examples of activities to trigger the relaxation response:

--Meditating
--Reiki
--Body scanning
--Taking moments to pause and breathe through the heart

--Yoga, chi gong, or tai chi
--Playing a musical instrument
--Engaging in a crafting activity like knitting for example
--Playing a sport
--Taking a nature walk
--Spending time with a beloved pet

I also have a free body scan meditation recording that you can enjoy. Feel free to check it out and listen to my seated body scan meditation here.

I use all of the practices and tools I have shared in this blog post in my daily life and they have helped me deeply and greatly. They work and are very nurturing and  transformational. They are tools for life!

Meditation, self-reiki, heart-centered pausing, and body scanning are activities that I also incorporate daily. I have been meditating for many years now, but for the past three years, I have been enjoying doing
Dr. Joe Dispenza’s meditations on a daily basis. He has many unique and transformational meditations that are science-based. They are amazing!
Stress response (fight/flight/freeze/fawn) and the relaxation response (rest and digest)
So now you may like to go ahead and use any of the suggestions in this blog to choose a practice/activity that you can incorporate into your daily routine for the next 30 days that will help you to trigger the relaxation response and boost inner harmony, balance, and relaxation. Have fun with it! Feel free to let me know how it goes for you, or share any thoughts you have, in the comment box below.
Consistency and repetition of practicing new skills is important in order to make them a habit and become wired in the brain and body. So daily practice is key to creating lasting and meaningful transformation in your life.
You hold the power within. Believe in and be open to possibilities. Stay present. You are magnificent!

Love is the Answer

Being peace in our personal lives naturally radiates it to the world. All minds are joined and really only one. Where within us do we still hold onto conflict? Is there a part or parts of us where we attack ourselves? Do we condemn, judge or criticize ourselves in any way? Do we hold onto any old guilt or patterns or behaviors that are not aligned to the Truth of who we really are as perfect peace, love, harmony, joy, well-being, order, and balance? Do we have any resentment, grievances, or hang onto old judgements of others or situations? We can reflect on these with unconditional self-love, self-kindness, and compassion.

Loving Exercise

You may like to take a moment to do the following exercise that can bring greater awareness and insight of your inner mindscape. It can be very helpful to write down your answers in a journal. Let the wisdom from within flow onto paper.

Stop and ask your beautiful self the following.
“In which way(s) do I attack myself?”
(Examples might include self-judgement, self-doubt, guilt, ignoring your personal needs etc.).
Notice what comes up. Be specific. You might think that some types of attack on yourself are small and some bigger. However, all self-attack is the same and is not helpful nor true.

Next, forgive yourself. You may like to place a hand on your radiant heart as you state, “I forgive you your name. I AM perfect, whole, innocent and complete. I AM perfect just the way that I AM. There is nothing wrong with me. I AM perfect love, perfect peace. That is what I AM. That is my true nature. My true essence, now and forever.” Wrap your arms around yourself and give yourself a big, warm, loving hug! Your whole being loves this.

You are never separate from Source/Presence/Peace/Love/Joy/the true Self. Each moment, we have the choice what we choose to believe about ourselves and our true nature. With thoughts that arise, we can choose which thoughts to listen to and those not to. Noticing them with unconditional love and self-compassion. We can be so gentle and nurturing with ourselves.

Now ask yourself the following.
“In what ways can I be more loving with myself?”
Perhaps hearing and listening more deeply to your inner needs and following the inner wisdom, guidance, and solutions that arises from presence, the stillness within. Or encouraging yourself throughout the day… Write down your answers.

We can extend this love, compassion, and forgiveness that we have given ourselves to those we have attacked in our minds by holding onto grievances. We can choose inner peace, peace of mind. As we liberate ourselves, by making a shift at the level of the mind, we liberate all. When we no longer attack ourselves, judgements/resentment/ grievances of others and the world fall away naturally on their own and are replaced with compassion. Love leads to more love.
inner peace, self-love, awakening, mindfulness, inner child,
It's time to take our inherent power back. It's always been there and always will be. It’s time to be who, what we truly are. Our Magnificence. Our Light. Our eternal Peace. The Love that we are. That is our true nature. And our natural state of being.

How to Create a Mindful Morning Routine

10/18/2023

Picture
The way we begin our morning, helps set the tone for the whole day. Bringing mindfulness to our mornings and starting the day aligned to our inherent wholeness, joy, peace, stillness, love, innocence, and well-being, can help us to stay more deeply rooted to these qualities and the true Self (also known as Awareness, Presence, Love, Inner Spirit, Source) throughout the day.

Mindfulness, which is a state of mind characterized by awareness, being fully present in the now moment, and non-judgement/compassion, helps us to take back/be in our power, and move forward towards living the life that our heart truly desires. It can help us break free from limiting patterns and behaviors that can keep us stuck or stagnating. Implementing a mindful morning routine suited specifically to your interests can promote the experience of increased relaxation, upliftment, optimism, and joy every day.

Each morning I follow a routine that I love to do. Before getting out of bed, I pause and take some quiet time to tune inwards. I drink a glass of water and then I meditate. That's my morning routine and how I spend the first hour to ninety minutes or so of my day. In the morning, I don't check emails, scroll through notifications on the phone, nor internet search until after I have finished my morning routine. It's my time for me. I stay "unplugged" from the outside world during this time.

My morning routine feels so good and I look forward to meditating each morning. Meditating helps me feel joyful, empowered, grateful, relaxed, motivated, and peaceful. Experiencing these feelings also helps me to bring them into the rest of my morning and day.

These elevated feelings and emotions of joy, peace, well-being, and love are always present within us, as they are the true essence of what we are (the true Self). And, when we do an activity that we enjoy, we connect with the true Self. A deepening and strengthening of the connection to these elevated feelings and emotions can also occur. Having a mindful morning routine that I practice daily upon waking, has been very beneficial.

When creating a mindful morning routine for yourself that will work best for you, some things to consider are as follows.
--What are your desired feelings that you want to experience and strengthen? Joy? Peace? Motivation? Relaxation? Trust in the Inherent Power/Wisdom within? etc…
--Without feeling constrained for time, how much time can you devote to your morning routine? Begin with whatever works for you. We are all different.
5 minutes? 15 minutes? 30 minutes? 45 minutes? 60 minutes? …
Note:  one may not think so, but even 5 minutes of a mindful morning practice can produce significant benefits. What is important is not the length of time, but commitment to practicing daily which will build new habits and routines.

Creating Your Mindful Morning Routine
After you have answered the above two questions, you can create your morning routine. (What type of activity will help you feel what you want to experience and reinforce?)

Some examples of activities you may like to consider are:
-Practicing gratitude. You might like to have a gratitude journal and write down everything you are grateful for.
-Meditating
-Setting an intention for the day. For example, to practice deeper self-kindness. You may like to write down or journal how you will practice self-kindness. What things will you do and not do to nurture self-kindness? What behaviors will you demonstrate and which ones will you avoid? What choices will you make and not make?
-If you practice a vibrational therapy like reiki or sound therapy for example, you could give yourself a treatment or play a singing bowl.
-Exercising
-Affirmative prayer
-A mindful movement activity like yoga, tai chi, or qi gong
-Dancing
-Listening to music, singing, or playing an instrument
-Having a warm drink

These are just possible suggestions. I'm sure you can think of others too. You may want to just select between 1-3 activities, so you do not feel rushed and can engage in them mindfully. If you decide to do more than one activity, consider how long you will spend on each one.

Practicing your chosen morning activity or activities mindfully means staying present in the now moment as awareness and with compassion and non-judgement to whatever arises. Engaging in activities in this manner also helps to deepen self-kindness.

Once you have decided on an activity that you are interested in, you can get started practicing your new routine each morning with a mindful approach. Even before beginning your new morning practice, you can reflect on how giving yourself this time for nurturing and self-care feels and will feel. If any thoughts come up just observe them with compassion, love, and non-judgement. You can click here if you would like to read my blog post, “Taking Your Power Back from Mind Chatter with Self-Kindness” for info about being aware of thoughts that arise with presence, non-judgement and compassion.

Enjoy your new mindful morning routine! Have fun with it. As the days go by, you can always make changes to your mindful morning routine if you like. Let the desired feelings that you want to feel and reinforce guide you.

After a period of time, perhaps 30 days, take a moment to reflect on the following.
--How have you been feeling since bringing mindfulness into your morning routine?
--What benefits has this practice had in your life?

PS. Feel free to share in the comments below, how you get on with incorporating this mindfulness practice into your morning routine. I always love to read your comments.

Taking Your Power Back from Mind Chatter with Self-Kindness

7/14/2023

Scientists have studied that we have about 60,000 to 90,000 thoughts per day. When we take notice of the thoughts, we can become aware that they are often the same or similar to the ones the day before. Perhaps you’ve noticed that? Some of the thoughts are helpful and nurturing and aligned to our magnificent/perfect/eternal wholeness, and the Truth of who we are at the deepest level of our being. These thoughts help to support us on our path. Other thoughts may be based in separation consciousness and are not supportive, nurturing, nor aligned to the Truth of who we are. And so if we choose to believe in these types of thoughts, they won’t be helpful for us. The key is not about trying to eliminate any kind of thoughts that may seem distressing or unhelpful. Thoughts will always be there and they are not the issue. Let all thoughts be present. We are not the thoughts. What is important is how we view them and whether we choose to identify with them or not.

When a thought that is unhelpful (based in separation consciousness, self-doubt, lack, limitation, unworthiness, blame, guilt etc.) arises, notice it from a place of curiosity. Just be aware of it. Refrain from judging it or labeling it (good or bad, right or wrong etc.) and simply be present with it. Allow the thought to be there without trying to eliminate it nor any feeling that may arise. So with any thought that surfaces that is not helpful (like “I’m not good enough”, “I can’t have what I want”, “they are bad people”, “there’s never enough”…) you just observe it and might even think something like, “Oh, look at that. That’s interesting that that is coming up.” Such a thought can be an old program/pattern of thinking running in the mind. By pausing and stepping back with awareness and non-judgement, you may gain insight or have the realization of the root of where the pattern of thinking is coming from. It often can be something from long ago, that is arising again to be looked at with love and compassion and be healed.

So awareness and non-judgement of an unhelpful thought can shift the energy around it to self-empowerment. We take back our power by choosing not to buy into nor identify with such a thought or stories. The practice is to be a loving and kind witness of what shows up in the mind. And to be gentle with ourselves with any thoughts that arise.

Amongst all the thinking is the ever-present quiet stillness of calm, which becomes more evident when we accept the present moment as it is and no longer resist any thoughts, feelings or sensations. If any feelings or sensations arise that you find distressing, allow yourself to feel them with self-compassion and love. It is our judgement of our feelings and sensations that can keep us bound to them. Resisting, burying, or repressing any that are distressing, does not get rid of them because they are trying to get our attention as they need our gentle and loving care. When we give them our attention and feel our feelings with non-judgement and love, healing occurs. Living from a place of presence, self-kindness, and acceptance of all of our thoughts, feelings, and sensations helps the body stay relaxed.

When we observe our thoughts and give ourselves the loving support we need moment to moment, the peaceful spaciousness around the thoughts and behind the mind chatter becomes more evident. It reminds us that all is well. That we are always taken care of. That we can relax and let go of any stress. This stillness/spaciousness/peace is the Truth of what we are. It is our true Self. It’s our true nature. With full acceptance and non-judgement of what occurs in the present moment, a natural process of transformation happens on its own. Any pull into the thoughts/stories subsides. A deep sense of liberation can emerge. Distress dissolves into peace and the past and future are released (any worries, doubts, guilt, blame etc.). The whole body relaxes too. It releases out of fight/flight/freeze stress mode and back to order, coherence, balance, and stability.

I have found that when we develop the practice of staying as the awareness of the thoughts, rather than identifying as them, and viewing them with unconditional love and compassion, and accept their presence, we cultivate a deep level of self-kindness. I have experienced that an inner gentleness for the self blooms which feels so liberating and blissful. It feels amazing to just be me and stay committed to living as the Truth of what we are. There is greater flow, ease and harmony. When we unconditionally love and appreciate ourselves and honor our true inherent magnificence, the old unhelpful thought and behavioral patterns fall away on their own. The feelings of love, peace, well-being, and alignment to our wholeness feels so good that we no longer choose to buy into any unhelpful patterns/stories, nor criticize ourselves anymore. We make the commitment to ourselves, to choose self-kindness and love. To be the love that is our Truth. The love that we always and forever are. And we can then also see through any illusions/drama in the outer world to the peace, stillness, spaciousness, magnificence, and love that is in all.
Taking Your Power Back from Mind Chatter with Self-Kindness, by Maya Bringas
Rather than labeling or making any judgements about any thoughts or feelings that arise, we can choose to welcome them all instead. Staying as the awareness, keeps us rooted to our true magnificent Self.
Note:  Looking at our emotions/thoughts/feelings and issues can be overwhelming or challenging especially if there has been trauma or if one is experiencing psychological issues. Be sure to consult and get help if needed, from a licensed professional or therapist.

Staying Centered to Spirit during Times of Challenge

4/7/2020

During times of challenge, it is even more important for us to be centered and grounded to our inner Spirit. With the many shifts and changes we are all experiencing in our daily routines and lives at this time, our ever-present true Self--our Higher Spirit Self, the calm and quiet presence within--is always there to teach us, lead us, and show us the way. It is during times like these that it is vital to  listen to and follow the guidance of Spirit, our Inner Teacher of Peace.

This is such an opportune time to commit to and deepen the cultivation of the practice of presence in our daily lives. In regards to the coronavirus pandemic, yes we each take the necessary precautions to keep ourselves, families, and others safe and healthy, and do what feels best and comfortable for us in the outer world.

At the same time, at the level of the mind, our inner world, we can choose how we look at things and what we would like to focus on. We choose what we want to listen to or focus on from outside sources and what we communicate and express, and also on what we choose to focus upon from within as well. And we can look at it all with compassion, love, and understanding. We can move through this global experience and each and every one of life's experiences (there really is no difference) through presence, peace, and with Spirit.
Staying Centered to Spirit During Times of Challenge by Maya Bringas

Spirit is readily available to support us at all times and in all ways. There is no problem that is too big or too small and Spirit recognizes that all problems are really the same and that there is always just one solution. LOVE.

There is a lovely lesson (# 21) from A Course in Miracles,
"I am determined to see things differently." We can always choose how to view any situation, problem, person, the self, or anything. We can look at it through the vision of Spirit (love) or through fear (ego/judgement).

When there are times that I observe that I am not feeling complete peace, I remind myself of this statement from A Course in Miracles. When I remember that I can see the particular situation differently, choose how I want to feel and at the same time I release any judgement in how I am feeling and what is occurring, a shift occurs right away. The weight is lifted when I choose to see it all through love instead.

By being willing and determined to see things differently, we open ourselves to Spirit to gently take us by the hand, and lead us to seeing things differently, through peace, love, and harmony. We no longer choose to feel stuck. We can ask Spirit to help us to see whatever is causing us any distress, through Love and divine Truth. As we do so, judgement falls away and we remember once again who we, everyone, and everything truly is. Perfect, whole, complete, divine. That is what we are.

This is truly a time of transformation on the planet when we all have the opportunity to whole-heartedly make the choice to stay anchored to our true Self/Spirit, to release judgement and replace it with compassion for ourselves and all others, and to be truly helpful. Let us make the choice to stay committed to living our magnificence!

Differentiating Between Intuition and the Ego

11/1/2018

Our intuition is guidance from the Higher Spirit Self. The mind has two parts/thought systems. Spirit is one and is the voice of love. Spirit knows only our divine Truth that we are perfect love and that only love is real. The other part of the mind, the ego, is illusory. The ego is not an entity nor a thing, but rather just the idea that we are separate from our Source. Its thought system is fear-based and is totally flawed as we are not separate from Source. The ego is the inner critic/false self which judges everyone and everything. Abundance, unity, and wholeness are part of Spirit’s thought system. Lack, separation, and limitation are part of the ego’s thought system.

Since the part of the mind we choose to follow at any given moment effects how we perceive ourselves, others, and the world, listening to Spirit’s guidance (our intuition) enables us to experience and enjoy life from Spirit’s true vision of peace, love, non-judgement, harmony, and freedom.

How do you know if specific thoughts and ideas in your mind are guidance from Spirit or the ego? When they are from Spirit, they are loving, gentle, kind, and uplifting in nature. Any guidance that Spirit offers always results in positive outcomes for our well-being and anyone else concerned. Spirit gives us solutions on how to forgive and eliminate fear and judgement, and brings us clarity. We may feel a burst of joy when we receive inspiring ideas. If the thoughts and ideas are unloving, judgemental, or condemn anyone including the self, then they are from the ego.

The guidance received from Spirit may not always necessarily be what one wants to hear at the time. If there are expectations of what it should be, to match what you think you want, this is judgement and a control mechanism of the ego. If Spirit’s guidance is then ignored, it may lead to some confusion and doubt.

If unsure if the guidance is from Spirit or the ego, you can ask for clarification from Spirit and wait awhile. Let go of thinking about it for some time and to clear the mind, trusting that Spirit will bring you the clarification in divine timing. When we spend time being in silence and the mind becomes still, the intuitive guidance comes through clearly. Also, Spirit’s guidance will most likely stay the same a few days later, but that from the ego can change, even often.

We have so many thoughts that arise in the mind each day. Each moment, we always have the choice which inner voice to listen to. When I made the choice to listen to and follow only Spirit and have stayed committed to doing so everyday, the voice of the ego became much weaker. Like a muscle that gets stronger when we exercise it, when we are dedicated to listening to and following our intuition, the stronger our communication with Spirit and it becomes our clear, dominant, guiding light.

Unveil Your Magnificence!

Picture
Do you know how magnificent you are? Exactly as you are right now. You are a magnificent, bright, shining, light! There is nothing that you nor I need to fix about ourselves. Awakening isn’t about becoming something, but rather shifting the perception of who we believe we are, and accepting and simply being the true divine light that we inherently are.

We are as God created us. Perfect, whole, and complete. And like God, our true Self has no lack, limitation nor flaws. We may have forgotten for awhile who we really are, but this has not changed our true essence. In a way, it is like amnesia that comes over us when we emerge into this time/space dream world causing us to forget our true Self. And then the time comes when we begin to remember. Perhaps glimpses at first. Then the more that we remember, the more our light becomes evident to us. The veil that was simply cloaking, but never diminishing the light, then becomes thinner.

Removing any blocks to the awareness and appreciation that your true Self is already perfect divine love, is what is key so that you can just be and express your true magnificent Self. When I began to change my perception of who I was, which is the same as who we all are, a great sense of freedom followed. It was also a much more empowering way of perception, knowing that I didn’t have to change myself or become anything different. There was nothing wrong with me. I just needed to be who I already truly am. God created us as the perfect light that we are, have always been, and will always be, and so we don’t need to change this. We just need to align to our true essence and embrace our magnificence.

The blocks which are the false beliefs about the self, are like layers of debris or dust that cloak an eternal, bright, radiant, light. There may be a thick or thin layer covering this light, but that doesn’t matter. As each layer is removed, the veil of debris becomes thinner and the light which has always been there, shines through and becomes more visible. And the more layers that are removed, the easier and quicker it is for the remaining ones to be removed.

What is important is the willingness for the layers to be lifted away. Sometimes people worry that it is too much work, that they are too old to let go of old beliefs, or are even fearful to discover how amazing they are. They give up and don’t allow the miracle to occur. However, once one is willing to remove the layers, that gives Spirit the permission to assist the process and it opens the door to alignment to one’s true magnificence.

You are love and are completely loved by the Divine. Are you ready to recognize this and fully embrace the magnificence that you are?

Letting Go to Flow

Letting Go to Flow, by Maya Bringas
Inspired action is action taken by following Spirit’s guidance. The word inspired derives from the two words, in and spirit. When we live from the place of being “in spirit” and permit Spirit’s higher divine wisdom to express through us, everything enfolds naturally and gracefully.

Many may think that it is necessary to always be actively doing something in order to feel productive. The ego loves to make us feel we need to stay busy rather than take time to relax, let go, rest, and simply be. It likes to keep the mind busy and distracted. It also enjoys making one feel like there is a race against time, which is an illusion.

At times Spirit may guide us to pause and do nothing for awhile. When there is something on my agenda to do, but I am not feeling Spirit’s guidance to work on it at that moment, I have learned to hold off until I get the go ahead to proceed. With Spirit in charge, all is in divine timing and order. This is different than the ego’s fear-based guidance which always wants us to work through strain and tries to push and force things to happen. With Spirit as our guide, there is no strain and everything flows with ease.

Even if there are deadlines for our projects, when we let Spirit be our guide, all are met in perfect timing and in the perfect way. During moments when I don’t feel the creative inspiration for a specific project coming through, I give myself extra time to relax and do other activities that are joyful and that nurture my well-being. I know that it will burst through when it is ready. Taking some time for relaxation and fun is vital for everyone. One may think it is counter-productive to take a day or two away from a project to just unwind for awhile. However, when we do, we rebalance, harmonize and gain clarity.

Everyone has different ways to unwind. I find going for a walk in nature, watching a funny movie, or listening to uplifting, high-vibrational music to be beneficial. Giving ourselves these moments creates the opening for Spirit’s inspiration to flow through. Ideas, insights, realizations, answers, and creativity then pours through clearly without hindrance. I have noticed this happen whenever I give myself these moments to pause. So actually by taking a little time out to let go for awhile, we become more productive and get better results. The manifestations that result are divine ones as they are created with Spirit expressing through us.

Spirit’s guidance always provides a feeling and sense of upliftment, hope, unconditional love, and gives solutions and answers that are a benefit to all. The ego’s guidance is fear-based, judgemental of the self and/or others, and is competitive. Spirit offers joy and peace, while the ego offers only gloom and doom. When we choose to take action that is inspired from Spirit, the outcome is always a blessing to ourselves and others.

You Are the Miracle That You Have Been Searching For

7/20/2017

Higher Self
The answers you seek can be found within.  Everything you require can be found within.  Solutions, guidance, support, healing and all that you need.  There comes a point when one realizes that the search outwards can be put to rest.  For everything is within.  Behold within your divine temple, your sacred heart.  What you have been seeking dear One is YOU.  It has always been you.

Sometimes people search outside of themselves and sometimes, this search may involve trying one thing after another without finding the lasting inner peace, harmony, and balance they are seeking.  It can become perhaps, what seems like an endless search.  However, all that you require on your path and that is for your highest good is revealed to you and brought to you when you listen to the guidance of your inner Spirit (Higher Self/Holy Spirit).

You are a vibrational being of love and light as is everything.  You are a beacon of light.  As you go within and connect to the stillness of your heart’s inner light, you receive all that you require.  It is here that you hear your heart’s inner calling and receive its loving guidance.  And it is here that you are guided to any steps from your Higher Self that you can take to assist you on your soul’s journey.  You are always connected to Source/Creator and this power, love, and wisdom within.  You are not separate, but One with Source, and are divine, innocent, and unlimited, just as is Source.  Your essence is LOVE.  That is what we all truly are.  Remember how amazing your Spirit is.  That is your true nature.

When you become still and go inwards, the ego mind becomes silent and you connect and align with the One Divine mind.  The sacred sanctuary of your heart is where you can always go to feel instant peace, calm, serenity, and a deep sense of Oneness with all life.  You are One with it all.  The miracle that you have been searching for has been within all along.  This sanctuary is within you wherever you go and is always available to you.  Go there to release, free your mind, heal, empower, and simply BE.

The belief in separation from Source is the only lack that really needs correction.  All other mis-creation arises from this belief.  Source is not lacking in any way and in divine Truth, neither can you.  As you remember this, it is just a matter of allowing that which is not in alignment to the Truth of who you really are to fall away.  Releasing not by analyzing or trying to fix things about yourself, as this leads to the false belief that there is something wrong with you.  Instead, observe as they arise, without attachment, any beliefs that you may have that are not in alignment to your true essence and allow these things to be released.  It is always the cause, which is at the level of the mind, and not the effect, that requires healing/correction.  And as the outer is a reflection of the inner, the outer will naturally transform as well.  Your Higher Self will always assist you with this process.  You are never alone, but fully supported.

As the undoing (unravelling/correction) of the ego mind’s belief in separation from Source continues, you release the resistance to the natural flow of Source within.  You are able to live in conscious awareness with divine flow and embody your Oneness with Source.  You BEcome an expression of Source’s unconditional love to move and work with you and through you in all aspects.  BE the LOVE that you are!

There is always divine order.  It is safe for you to let go of all the control as it is not needed.  Hand it all over to your Higher Self within, trusting that all will be taken care of in every aspect of your life and for your highest good.  For it is when you feel the need to control or force things to happen, that you end up creating resistance to the natural flow of Source within.  By releasing the control you allow the things you desire to flow to you with ease and grace, and in divine timing and in the perfect way.  Sometimes what is brought to you may be even better than what you were asking for because you have let the higher wisdom of your Higher Self within to bring to you that which is for your soul’s highest good.

Trust is key.  Trust in the power within.  Trust in your true divine essence.  There are no mistakes.  Trust, believe, and be open to receive.
BE the LOVE that you are.  BE your light.  Shine forever bright!

SIX SIMPLE WAYS TO SUPPORT THE NATURAL FLOW OF HEALING WITHIN FOR IMPROVED HEALTH AND WELL-BEING

4/4/2016

Self-Love to Support Healing From Within
Often times when any health challenges arise, it is the body’s way of trying to give you a deeper message.  Often the message is that there is something in your consciousness that is not in alignment with your inner truth and it is surfacing so that it may be noticed and healed.  Your body is likely asking you to let go of all the busyness and worries and to take time to nurture and connect with your inner self.  The health issue is then forcing a person to relax in order to heal.

If you are experiencing a health challenge you can choose to look at it as an opportunity to make any necessary, positive changes in your life that your body is guiding you to make.  Taking this type of approach will assist you with empowering your health.  Releasing the resistance to the natural flow of well-being within is key.  Well-being is always available because you are always connected to Source Energy within.  Healing happens within and through you rather than externally.  Healing is alignment with well-being.

The following are a few methods that support the natural flow of healing within.

1.  Live In The Present Moment.  Do your best to remain in the present moment.  The NOW moment is where you will ever be in any given time so place your attention here.  This will help to release any worries about the future and keep from being stuck in the past.  Focussing on your breath, quieting the mind, being aware of the ever-flowing energy of Source within, will instantly bring you clarity of mind and keep you in the present moment.  Taking several moments to focus on your breath and stilling the mind throughout your day, especially when any tension arises, will bring you to your place of power within.

2.  Envision your body having optimal health right now.  Whatever your current state of health, visualize/imagine exactly how you want it to be and how you want to FEEL. Make this your focus.  For example, if you are currently experiencing any pain, visualize and allow yourself to FEEL what it would be like for your whole body to be relaxed without any pain or discomfort.  Or if mobility is an issue, visualize yourself doing an activity that you love, moving with complete ease and comfort.  And again FEEL how it would be like to be doing these things and the great joy and sense of freedom it would bring you.   What are other feelings that you’d experience if you no longer had the health condition?
It is the FEELING aspect that it is most important because it is our feelings that create our experiences.  Taking a few minutes a day to sit quietly/meditate and visualize and FEEL your body functioning optimally is such a powerful exercise.  If there is a specific organ that is experiencing distress, bring your inner attention to that area and visualize it working optimally right now like there was never a problem there.  Interestingly, the subconscious mind does not know the difference between what is real and what is imagined.  So this again points out the power on doing such an exercise regularly.  Visualize all the cells of your body in perfect health.  Visualize/intend that each of your cells is being infused with LOVE.

If you are concerned about the health of another person, you would do the same thing, but visualize him/her how you would want to see that person and the health condition already healed.

3.  Release any beliefs that are not in alignment with the Truth of who you are.  In Truth, you are One with Source Energy which is all-powerful and you have all resources within.  If you feel helpless or like a victim because the health condition is genetic or notice that you are blaming another for your health or happiness then you are giving away your power.  This could also be a subconscious deservability issue in that you may feel you don’t deserve optimal health because it runs in the family.  With such health conditions, often times it is actually the emotional/mental pattern of a condition that is passed on through the generations.  For example, you may share the same tendency to worry, over-analyze, or deal with stress in the same manner as your parents.  However, by shifting the pattern, the physical manifestation will automatically be shifted as well.  If you do have any such beliefs simply let them go.  Ask your inner self to help you to release these beliefs permanently.  It is important to return the focus back to you and choose what brings you the most peace.

4.  Be aware of what you tell yourself and others about your health.  The physical body responds to everything that you think and say about yourself.  The body is made up of about 70% water and easily absorbs the messages/vibrations that it receives.  Be mindful of what messages you are giving your body.  Just observe, without any self-judgement, the thoughts that arise in your mind and the words you speak, and then simply choose to let go of those that are not nurturing.  Instead choose those that are loving, supportive, and nurturing to your health/well-being.  It is important to just observe and stay detached from them as they are only thoughts and not who you are.  As such, they can be released/changed.

Sometimes a person may develop a strong attachment to a health condition and make it part of his/her identity.  In such a case, rather than seeing the condition as something they are currently experiencing, they think of it as something that they are.  This can create a sense of hopelessness/disempowerment.  It is also important to be mindful of what one states aloud and as a result is reinforcing about one's health.   Thinking and speaking about how you want your health to be, rather than on what it is you don't want, gives the body a totally different message that promotes positive change and healing support.  It promotes the natural flow of well-being within rather than resisting/blocking the possibility of healing with limiting beliefs.

Nourish your body with uplifting, positive thoughts and statements so that it knows that you are now open to improved health/well-being and solutions.  This will automatically shift/raise the vibrational frequency of your thoughts and mind and open the door to healthy change.  Take a moment each day to bless your body.  Give thanks to your body for being the temple for your beautiful and divine spirit.  Thank it for all that it does and supporting you on your life’s journey.

5.  Surround yourself with positive, loving and supportive people.  It is important to be around people who help to uplift your spirit and that will be supportive of any healthy and positive changes you are making in your life.  It is also perfectly fine to take more quiet time for yourself as needed.  As you continue to grow and move forward on your path, your ideas and beliefs may often change along the way.  Therefore, you may feel that certain situations, people, or places no longer resonate with your new ways of being.  This is all normal and part of the process.  Allow those things that are no longer resonating with you to simply fall away.  This will then automatically create an energetic space in which new opportunities, people, and situations that are a match for your new vibration to enter your life.

6.  Have an attitude of gratitude each day.  When you first awake in the morning, take a few moments to give thanks for all the blessings in your life.  For example, as you lay in bed be thankful for the simple things like the fresh air you are breathing and your comfy bed.  Be grateful for your life, knowing that you have the power within to create the reality you wish to experience.  Think of a few things and throughout the day try to stay in an attitude of gratitude.  Gratitude has the same vibration as love.  And when you can focus on the good things as they arise, then your inner spirit/universe will bring you even more such things that give you joy, pleasure and that which you are grateful for.

Always be gentle, kind, and loving to yourself!
