Awaken to Love

Awaken to Love by Maya Bringas
In A Course in Miracles, Jesus (the narrator) tells us, "You are at home in God, dreaming of exile but capable of awakening to reality” (T-10.I.2).

Jesus reminds us that right now we are safe in God (our Source/unconditional Love) where we never left. The world and bodies we see are just a projection of the mind. It’s all just a dream that we have separated from our Source. Our reality is that as an extension of God's Love, we are formless, Spirit, perfect unconditional Love. Only Love is real and there is nothing outside of us.

The Course teaches us about the importance of not making the dream real in our minds. With this awareness, we still do the same normal activities in our daily lives. We still enjoy the world. The change we make is at the level of the mind (cause) and not on the physical (effect). It’s about how we view the world and everything in it and what meaning and purpose we give to it. We can make it a happy dream or an unhappy one. Moment to moment each day, there are two ways we can choose in our minds what we want to identify ourselves as. We can see ourselves as Spirit sees us, as Love and One with All at Home in God (Truth/reality), or as the ego sees us, as bodies and being separate from others and God (dream/unreal).

By not making the dream real in our minds and choosing to remember our true reality as Love, we recognize that all is truly well and that there are no problems. How we see another is how we see ourselves and it also reinforces our belief in who we think we are at the deepest level of our being.

True forgiveness, (which relinquishes judgement and recognizes the wholeness and innocence of all of us, as perfect Love) is what A Course in Miracles teaches and it becomes easier to practice as holding onto grievances only brings turmoil.

“You who were created by love like itself can hold no grievances and know your Self. To hold a grievance is to forget who you are. To hold a grievance is to see yourself as a body. To hold a grievance is to let the ego rule your mind and to condemn the body to death.” (From Lesson 68 of the Course).

We can use whatever appears as problems that show up in our experience, as opportunities to practice forgiveness and to reinforce in our minds our true reality as Love. Whatever upsets us in the dream, has been projected to reveal to us the false beliefs we still hold within about who we think we are. We are not our bodies. So, instead of attacking the projection that was created from false beliefs, we can choose to forgive everyone and the projection which results in healing for everyone.

Implementing the teachings of the Course in my daily life over the years, has resulted in much inner transformation and deeper healing. As I began to see things differently, with Spirit's loving guidance and vision, I was able to let go of many old grievances. It has now also become an automatic process to practice true forgiveness, so that I don't get stuck in fear (judgement) and what is not our Truth.

When I notice myself feeling troubled, I pause, take a step back and just observe. I recognize that I was feeling this way as a result of slipping back into thinking with the ego’s thought system of fear which I did not want, rather than Spirit’s thought system of love. I then make the choice for love once again, which undoes the belief in separation. I hand-over whatever is bothering me to Spirit and ask Spirit to help me to heal the root cause of the condition that created it in the first place (which is always the belief that we are separate from our Source). It is important that when we notice ourselves judging, to not judge ourselves for doing so, but instead be kind and loving to ourselves. I also find it helpful to remember that the thoughts that arise in the mind are just that. Thoughts. They are not who I am. I can observe them without attachment and let them go.

I then envision all involved (another person and/or myself), as the radiant Light and Love that they are. I remember that (on the deepest level of our being) that person is me and that we are the same Spirit, and One in God’s Love. This really helps and works quickly to dissolve any upsetting feeling. Sometimes I even giggle to myself at the whole thing, about how the ego tries to make everything so serious and real.

By forgiving everything and everyone, we don’t make the dream of separation real in our minds and we save ourselves much time and unnecessary suffering. We awaken to our reality of love.

Staying Centered to Spirit during Times of Challenge

During times of challenge, it is even more important for us to be centered and grounded to our inner Spirit. With the many shifts and changes we are all experiencing in our daily routines and lives at this time, our ever-present true Self--our Higher Spirit Self, the calm and quiet presence within--is always there to teach us, lead us, and show us the way. It is during times like these that it is vital to  listen to and follow the guidance of Spirit, our Inner Teacher of Peace.

This is such an opportune time to commit to and deepen the cultivation of the practice of presence in our daily lives. In regards to the coronavirus pandemic, yes we each take the necessary precautions to keep ourselves, families, and others safe and healthy, and do what feels best and comfortable for us in the outer world.

​At the same time, at the level of the mind, our inner world, we can choose how we look at things and what we would like to focus on. We choose what we want to listen to or focus on from outside sources and what we communicate and express, and also on what we choose to focus upon from within as well. And we can look at it all with compassion, love, and understanding. We can move through this global experience and each and every one of life's experiences (there really is no difference) through presence, peace, and with Spirit.

Spirit is readily available to support us at all times and in all ways. There is no problem that is too big or too small and Spirit recognizes that all problems are really the same and that there is always just one solution. LOVE.

There is a lovely lesson (# 21) from A Course in Miracles, 
"I am determined to see things differently." We can always choose how to view any situation, problem, person, the self, or anything. We can look at it through the vision of Spirit (love) or through fear (ego/judgement).

When there are times that I observe that I am not feeling complete peace, I remind myself of this statement from A Course in Miracles. When I remember that I can see the particular situation differently, choose how I want to feel and at the same time I release any judgement in how I am feeling and what is occurring, a shift occurs right away. The weight is lifted when I choose to see it all through love instead.

By being willing and determined to see things differently, we open ourselves to Spirit to gently take us by the hand, and lead us to seeing things differently, through peace, love, and harmony. We no longer choose to feel stuck. We can ask Spirit to help us to see whatever is causing us any distress, through Love and divine Truth. As we do so, judgement falls away and we remember once again who we, everyone, and everything truly is. Perfect, whole, complete, divine. That is what we are.


This is truly a time of transformation on the planet when we all have the opportunity to whole-heartedly make the choice to stay anchored to our true Self/Spirit, to release judgement and replace it with compassion for ourselves and all others, and to be truly helpful. Let us make the choice to stay committed to living our magnificence!

Love is What Heals

The heart is the gateway to your True Self. The divine heart of the One Source that resides within us all, knows only Truth. It does not question, it does not seek. It simply knows. It listens in silence, it speaks with strength, and it loves with every pulsating beat. No restrictions, no reservations. It simply extends and flows, generously unhindered.

The divine heart seeks not approval, for it knows what it is. It knows only unconditional love. It embraces all and invites love within. Love is always the answer, no matter the question. By truly loving the self, you become a pillar of love. Sadness and grief, worry and despair, uncertainty and fear, dissolve when touched by the love you hold within. And no matter what is experienced within one’s life experience or in the physical body, when there is unconditional love for the self, any inner suffering is always transformed into peace. 

Tuning in daily to the divine heart is essential. The physical vessel’s natural, vibrational, default setting is to the frequency of divine love. It resonates wholly to love. When aspects of the physical vessel, become out of tune/balance, whether it’s experienced in the mind, the physical or energy bodies, a return to love is what brings it back to its natural frequency and experience of well-being.

Whatever method/therapy/form one uses for healing, the underlying essence at the heart of all true and permanent healing is love. Healing is release from fear and occurs at the level of the mind. Sometimes people wonder why healing in some circumstances is temporary. One’s sense of well-being may not seem to last, or perhaps one’s symptoms/health condition may be gone for a while and then reappear. We have free will of what thoughts we choose to believe. Sometimes a person may ignore the inner voice of love, and not yet be willing to permanently release former unloving thought or behavioral patterns, therefore resisting fully embracing love’s presence. In such instances, there is a return to identification with separation and the false self. One might not be ready to release unforgiveness, guilt, judgement etc. Therefore, distress/symptoms may reoccur to get the person’s attention that an internal shift from fear to love is required.

In other cases, a person may practice unconditional love, with symptoms alleviated or disappearing completely, while the condition may or may not disappear. The body doesn’t know the divine plan for the soul, but the heart/Spirit does. It is therefore important not to judge what’s happening in the body, nor blame nor be critical of the self. Release any expectation of a specific result. Inner peace and well-being is what healing provides and is possible no matter what’s happening in the body. Being gentle, patient, forgiving, and loving with the self is the divine heart’s guidance. When there is a willingness and commitment to choose love, you can trust and know that the love of the divine heart will always take care of you and keep you well.

Forgiveness Sets You Free

Forgiveness is a gift we give ourselves and it sets us free. When we choose forgiveness, we release the past, and can enjoy living in the eternal now.

Judgement takes many forms. Blaming others or the self for one’s experiences, believing the self or others to be inadequate, guilty, or undeserving, and making comparisons, are just a few examples of judgement. Love and judgement cannot coexist. Only one of these is active at any given moment. Forgiveness is the means to the relinquishment of judgement.

When we truly forgive, we do so at the level of the mind where it is needed, since all arises from the mind. By forgiving the self, another person, or a situation, we are not indicating that a specific behavior or action is ok, but rather we see through the illusion of the world and its seeming separate identities and stories, to the love that is truly there beyond all form. The non-dualistic spiritual principles of A Course in Miracles teaches that the path to inner peace and love is through this true form of forgiveness. All are innocent, and only the love that we are, is real.

We can always, at any moment, make the choice to love, and abandon judgement. Everyone is doing the best they can based on their state of awareness about who they really are. Those who lack self-love and are unhappy deep down, can extend to others only what they feel for themselves and what they believe to be true. Forgiveness though, does not mean that one should tolerate or be subjected to the unloving nature of a situation or behavior of another.

A very helpful tool that you can use is to bring your conscious awareness outside the illusion/world and to perceive a situation as an observer looking in. This makes it easier to detach from a situation and bring your awareness to the stillness within. Like watching a movie, you observe the characters with relatively no strong attachment. Taking such a perspective when observing the stories happening in your life, results in a greater understanding and compassion for the various characters.

Spirit, our inner teacher of peace, always assists with forgiveness, we just need to ask. Our true essence is light, free, and unconditional love. Forgiveness uplifts your vibration and permanently disconnects you from suffering. Nothing on the level of form, outside of the mind, needs to be done, unless there is specific guidance from Spirit to do so. Forgiveness and commitment to the daily practice of non-judgement accelerates the undoing of the ego, which cannot survive without judgement.

Forgiveness is an act of nurturing unconditional self-love. Forgiving another is really forgiving yourself. When the painful life stories and characters are forgiven, whatever was based on divine, unconditional love, always remains. Those that were not rooted in divine love naturally fall away on their own. This creates an opening for more of that which is based on love to come into your life.

PS. The tool I mention in this article in which you bring your mind's awareness outside of the world/illusion is also very helpful in other types of situations. For example, if you are experiencing any discomfort, anxiety, or other forms of distress. It assists with mindfully stepping outside of a situation and bringing your awareness to your true eternal home with Source, where all is well. In this space (outside the level of form and where you are forever One with Source) only perfect peace, love, stillness, and well-being exists. Connecting with your true essence in this manner, and by being the observer of a particular situation, helps to return equilibrium to the physical form. Use the breath at the same time. Breathing slowly, gently, and deeply into the body assists with bringing soothing comfort and calm to the mind, and in turn brings gentle release and tranquility to all aspects of the physical body. This powerful exercise also helps to feel more grounded. If you work with or attuned to any vibrational therapies like Metatronia Therapy®, incorporating it with this exercise when any distress is experienced, can bring additional support for quicker relief, healing, and re-alignment to your true Self.

Recipe for True and Lasting Inner Peace

I want to share what I call my Recipe for True and Lasting Inner Peace, which helped me to transform my life and how I experience the world. It also continues to do so, through my commitment to practice it.

The recipe has just two ingredients:  Unconditional Love (practicing non-judgement of the self and others) + True Forgiveness (release of judgement of the self and others)


Unconditional Love + True Forgiveness= True and Lasting Peace & Healing

It is based on the principle that the practice of relinquishing judgement in our daily lives is not only essential, but is the fast-track to awakening from the dream of separation and to our true, magnificent, divine Self. I will first briefly share how making the choice to live a life of peace (love-based) instead of judgement (fear-based) brought me a whole new way of perceiving myself and experiencing the world. Bringing me into alignment with the eternal and infinite Oneness that we are all a part of.

My Transformation and Healing with the Recipe

I used to judge myself a lot. I had low self-confidence and self-esteem. I was critical and hard on myself and wanted to do things perfectly. In my mind, I also judged others, situations and events that were happening in the world, and I was concerned that others were judging me. And when I noticed I was judging, I would feel guilty for doing so. Guilt is also another form of judgement! Deep down, I knew that all this judgement didn’t resonate with how I believed life was supposed to be. That there was more to life and that love, appreciation, and compassion were key elements to living a joyful life.
 
In 2008 I began studying A Course in Miracles and have been a dedicated student since. A Course in Miracles is a universal, self-study, non-dualistic spiritual thought system that teaches that the path to inner peace and love is through forgiveness. A Course in Miracles has been and continues to be instrumental in my daily life, as the exercises assist with undoing the false beliefs of the ego (false self) with the full guidance and assistance from the Higher Spirit Self (different people may use various names such as the Higher Self, Holy Spirit, I AM Presence, God-Self, Goddess-Self, Inner Spirit, etc., but they are all referring to the same inner teacher of peace).

The Recipe for True and Lasting Inner Peace uses the same advanced form of forgiveness and love that A Course in Miracles teaches. When I began incorporating the two vital ingredients of the recipe daily, everything starting shifting in my life. It was truly amazing!

As I let go of much judgement of myself and others and began to view everything through the lens of Spirit, the invisible, self-imposed, heavy weight I carried lifted away. As love, appreciation and forgiveness replaced judgement, my relationship with myself and others transformed. My self-confidence and self-esteem boosted. My outer world changed. A much higher level of joy, harmony, and peace resulted in all aspects of my life. Greater trust in the Oneness also followed, knowing that we are always fully supported by Source and we need not worry about anything. Using this recipe, together with Metatronia Therapy
®, also helped with healing a digestive issue.
 
When there is judgement, a misperception about the self, another, or a situation has been made. All judgement is rooted in the false belief that we are separate from Source. All other misperception arises from this belief in separation. All judgement is based on fear, which includes any sense of lack or limitation, guilt, anxiety, distrust, anger, or worry, just to name a few things, and anything that is not based on love.

Choosing to live in alignment to the guidance of the inner teacher of peace has brought me tremendous freedom. By following this recipe over the years and as I am committed to doing so each day, when any judgement arises, it has become a much easier and automatic process to choose to relinquish the judgement and choose love instead. It feels much better to be free, joyful and uplifted by love! Holding onto judgement, creates resistance to aligning with our true divine self. Our willingness to release judgement is the first step and what is key. Once we are willing, we can ask for assistance from the Higher Spirit Self within with the conditions that created the judgement in the first place (the idea of separation). 

So from my personal experience and transformation, I know this recipe works! By releasing judgement and practicing true forgiveness, the false beliefs of the ego unravel and healing and alignment to our true divine Self occurs.

Love and Judgement Can Not Co-Exist. At any moment, only one of these is active.
 
The Two Ingredients:  Unconditional Love and True Forgiveness

Unconditional love is just that, unconditional. There are no conditions placed on the self, anyone else, or anything. It gives and receives freely and completely. To love others unconditionally is to love the self unconditionally. And when we love ourselves unconditionally, nothing but unconditional love can be extended.

What you see within another is what you shall see within you. And what you see within you is what you shall see within others.

To not give unconditional love is to cause suffering within one’s self. For we are the divine unconditional love of Source. It is our true divine nature. To not recognize, be, or extend it, brings suffering.

If you ponder it for a moment, how do you FEEL deep within when you are not loving yourself or withhold from extending love to others? It doesn’t FEEL good. That is because the judgement creates a resistance to what your true Self within knows to be true.

In other words, your true Self knows that you are only love, and nothing else. So if judgement (absence of love) arises, your not feeling good is a way that your true Self is revealing to you that what you are thinking is not true. To accept the love that you are, is to accept your true essence of who you really are. Unconditional love brings freedom.

True forgiveness which our true Self knows to be the only form of forgiveness, recognizes that all are innocent. There is no blame, shame, nor condemnation. With true forgiveness we understand that when we forgive, we do so at the level of the cause (the mind) which is where it’s needed and not the effect. The misperception arises from the belief that we are separate from our Source and others and so the unconscious guilt held within is projected outwards so as to judge/blame/attack others. When we forgive the cause, we forgive ourselves for the misperception we had as well as the projection of it (the effect which is part of the illusory/dream world). With this advanced form of forgiveness we see through the lens of the Higher Spirit Self and recognize our own innocence and all involved. We see past the illusion/dream and see through to what is truly there within everyone and everything which is unconditional love. We are all one with Source which is unconditional love, and so we too are all unconditional love.

We can choose to remember our Oneness with Source and recognize that all that has been projected in the dream has shown up to reveal to us the false beliefs we still hold within about who we think we are. For example, if you believe you are unworthy of love and don’t love yourself unconditionally, this is projected into the world and you may notice a pattern of attracting (mirroring/reflecting back) those who can not express or show love. So instead of attacking the projection that is created from the false beliefs, you can choose to forgive yourself and the projection. You can then heal the root issue at the level of the mind. In this example, it would be healing the lack of self-love and the conditions that created it in the first place, which would again involve, at the root, the choice to believe that you are separate from Source. By loving the self, the projections/mirrors that brought a sense of grief and pain also fall away and are replaced with those that bring a sense of love and joy, as they are a vibrational match for your improved sense of self-love. Like attracts like. This advanced form of forgiveness results in true and lasting peace.

When one moves from living from separation consciousness (judgement/fear-based/lack/limitation) to Oneness consciousness (love-based/eternal/wholeness/unlimited) a whole new way of perceiving and experiencing one's self and the world emerges. You experience life through the lens of the Higher Spirit Self, your inner teacher of peace and experience inner freedom.

The ego can not survive without judgement. As judgement of the self and others falls away, the ego unravels and your true magnificent Self shines through, and takes lead.
 
By integrating these two ingredients of unconditional love and true forgiveness, pain is replaced with peace. And when true and lasting peace is experienced, healing can happen.

Everything changed when I began to look within. There comes a point when one realizes that all is found within. The need to seek externally ceases. I began my inner exploration and self-discovery in my early thirties over a decade ago. Spirituality had always been an important aspect in my life, but as I began to delve deeper into my subconscious and began undoing the false beliefs I held about myself, my life transformed completely. Through this awakening and alignment to my true self, which is the same divine self that we all are, everything began to shift in the most wondrous ways. When the realization of who we really are awakens within us, our outer world automatically transforms.

My self-healing began with the practice of daily self-love, forgiveness, and inner child healing. I was fully committed to my healing and raising my consciousness became a priority in my life. Over the years that followed, as my perceptions continued to change, miracles began happening.

Everything that we experience happens in order to teach us something. The situations and people that show up in our lives (the effect) act as a mirror to reflect back the beliefs we hold within the mind (the cause). Many of these beliefs are subconscious. Specific issues are also illuminated in the mirrors (to help one learn self-approval, or how to feel comfortable expressing one’s feelings, or trust etc.) until they are healed. The source of well-being always comes from within. Coming to that understanding brought me a great sense of freedom and self-empowerment and continues to do so as I remember that nothing can disturb my inner peace unless I allow it.

When you acknowledge that everything is simply a projection coming from you and not at you, you take responsibility for your perceptions and life. You see innocence in all including yourself. You end needless suffering. Isn’t it empowering to know that nothing outside of you can effect your alignment to your true self, and that at any given moment, it’s solely your choice on how you want to feel no matter what is happening around you? As I changed my perception of uncomfortable past experiences, using them as opportunities to learn, forgive, and to propel me forward in my awakening, it allowed my transformation and healing to occur. Many mirrors disappeared as well when I learned what I needed.

We all need to go through the process of undoing the false beliefs of the ego and aligning to our true self at some point, so why delay? Doing all that inner work on myself was not easy, as it isn’t for most who do, but I am so grateful that I did because it has brought me to a place of deep connection to Spirit and to those that cross my path. Life now flows so much easier and there is greater harmony, joy, well-being and synchronicity. Everything becomes a blessing when we perceive it the way Source knows it to be true.

You Are Divine LOVE, by Maya Bringas, A Course in Miracles unconditional love

Your true essence is the unconditional love of Source. That is what you are. What we all are as we are One with Source. There is no separate you nor I, for we are united together as One being, One light, One child of Source. The love of Source is always unconditional. There is never any judgement, nor condemnation. You have always been and forever are so dearly and completely loved. Source knows only the divine Truth of who you are which is LOVE.

When you judge yourself or something or someone else, your perception is not based on divine spiritual Truth. Such judgement needs to be lovingly and gently released so that true perception is revealed. Only love is real. Anything that is not based on unconditional love is not, because Source (and you), are only unconditional love. It is so vital to be loving, kind, gentle, patient, and compassionate with yourself. As you do, you embody your true divine essence and enable the falsities to fall away. All done with more ease and grace as you nurture your well-being with love along the way.

See yourself and everything in your world as Source sees all. See with LOVE. When you do, you see past the false illusions of the ego’s fear to what is really there. Peace, love, unity, harmony. See everyone as the divine light that they are and you honor and affirm to yourself the divine light that you are.

“Child of Light, you know not that the light is in you. Yet you will find it through it’s witnesses, for having given light to them they will return it. Each one you see in light brings your light closer to your awareness. Love always leads to love.” A Course in Miracles (T-13.VI.10:1-4).

You can connect with your sacred heart within daily to align to the divine love that you are. The following exercise will help you to really feel and embody this love. Place your hands on your heart chakra in the center of your chest. Close your eyes and take a few slow, deep, gentle breaths. As you breathe in, allow your belly to expand outwards as you affirm to yourself in your mind, or aloud, “I AM the love that flows in through me.” And as you exhale, draw your belly inwards and affirm, “I AM the love that flows out through me.” Feel the connection with your sacred heart within as this loving energy expands. Continue breathing in and out with these affirmations until you feel immersed with this glorious love that resides within your sacred heart. You are a beacon of love. You are nourishing your whole being with your divine love as you also extend it out into your world. Close this exercise by affirming, “I AM Love, I AM Love, I AM Love.” You can start each morning with this short exercise, to help you to stay centered in your heart throughout the day.​

Ten Ways to Practice Self-Love
Here are Ten Ways...
1. Stop all criticism of yourself. Accept and approve of yourself as the MAGNIFICENT being of love and light that you truly are. Make the decision to no longer judge yourself, but instead appreciate yourself.
2. Forgive yourself. You are doing the best you can. Let the past go and FREE yourself. When you forgive yourself, you release the suffering and choose peace for yourself.
3. Be nurturing, compassionate and gentle with yourself. Don’t scold yourself, but treat your beautiful self with kindness and care. People are often harsh on themselves and find it much easier to be loving and kind to others. Treat yourself the way you would your dearest friend or a loved one.
4. Place your hand on your heart and feel your heartbeat. Connect with your physical heart and feel its LOVE. Then tell your heart I Love You. Do this everyday. Beginning each morning doing this is a wonderful practice to send love to your beautiful sacred heart and whole being.
5. Do activities that bring you JOY! Make time daily to do things that make your heart sing. Even with a busy schedule, you can always make a little time to have fun. If you feel you just don’t have time in your daily schedule, then you really need to make time to do this! And as you do, you nurture, support, and bring joy to your inner child.
​6. Nourish your mind with supportive thoughts about yourself. Praise yourself often throughout the day. Give yourself the encouragement you need.
7. Don’t scare yourself. Sometimes people imagine the worst-case scenario of a situation arising instead of the best-case scenario. It’s safe to release your fears and trust that everything always happens for your highest good. All is well. You are a success always!
8. Nourish your body with healthy foods and beverages. Support your body with the fuel needed for it’s optimal health and well-being.
9. During meditation, visualize the divine, unconditional love that resides within your sacred heart, radiating out and filling all the cells of your body. All the cells, organs, muscles, tissues, and your whole body and mind is infused with love.
10. Give yourself a hug! Wrap your arms around yourself right now and tell yourself “I LOVE YOU!” Feel the love within your radiant heart, filling and encircling you in a beautiful cocoon of love.

Rose Quartz Self-Love
A crystal ally that is wonderful for assisting with self-love is Rose Quartz. It has a nurturing, loving, and gentle vibration. Hold a piece of rose quartz or place on your heart for a short while to feel it's loving energy. It also assists with forgiveness, can help relieve grief and sadness and promotes compassion and understanding.

Only Love is Real

Perfect love casts out fear.
If fear exists,
Then there is not perfect love

But:
Only perfect love exists.

If there is fear,
It produces a state that does not exist.
Believe this and you will be free.
